GIVING ALL CHILDREN AND WOMEN

A FIGHTING CHANCE

WHO WE ARE

I Am My Bodyguard is a global foundation dedicated to giving all children and women the ability to protect themselves against all types of violence including gender-based sexual violence.

GET INVOLVED

We are passionate about the well being of the children and women in our communities. Learn how you can help.

WHY WE STARTED

Violence against children and women is a major public health problem worldwide and a pervasive social problem that transcends socio-cultural bounds and has myriad bio-psychosocial effects on victims, survivors and the wider community. We want children and women to take a stand against it.

OUR STORY

Conceptualized from our own unique experiences, I Am My Bodyguard purposes to use these experiences to shape a better tomorrow.

OUR FOUNDERS DREAM

The founders Eunice and James dream to build and operate a partly self-sustaining shelter where women with young children can flourish. A place of safety and security where they can heal, receive counseling and life skills and take care of their children while they rebuild their life.

The best place for any child is with the mother, but most kids are abandoned in orphanages because the mother cannot cope. Providing women with safety and security will go a long way in keeping the mother and child together.

We have a 5-year vision to create a partly self-sustaining revenue-producing shelter. That will shift the burden of support from good-will donations to a financially sustainable enterprise.

If you are an organization, institution/school or hospitality organization that would like to be part of this journey, we would like to hear from you. Please get in touch with us.

WHY CHOOSE US

We offer a great opportunity to support children and women’s well-being, since violence hinders women’s access, benefit, and contribution to development by restricting their choices and limiting their ability to act.

Gender-based sexual violence is a violation of human rights and addressing it is central to development and key to achieving development outcomes.
